Ruth Hansom joins the team!
Dynamic and exceptionally talented, Ruth is a trailblazer in the UK hospitality industry with a passion for British produce, an impressive CV and an array of awards to her name. Justifiably, she is one of the UK’s leading young chefs.
Yorkshire-born Hansom took the decisive move to leave home at 16 to embark on her culinary dream, moving to London to take up a place at the prestigious Westminster Kingsway College.
Following a year at the Boundary Restaurant, Ruth secured a position at The Ritz London where she completed her Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Apprenticeship with a Distinction. She remained there for five years, developing her skills and progressing from commis to Chef de Partie.
More recently, Ruth’s talent was showcased to the nation on BBC Two’s Million Pound Menu.
In June 2018 she joined Luton Hoo hotel as head chef at Wernher, their fine dining restaurant, until moving back to London to join the Pomona’s team as Head Chef in April 2019.
Here Ruth’s passion for locally sourced British produce permeates throughout her exciting new all-day, relaxed, fine dining menus, that feature a twist on the traditional a la carte offering, with sharing dishes from the land, sea and earth.
When not in the kitchen, Ruth can be found delivering the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts’ Adopt a School Programme to primary school children; mentoring for the 2019 Future Chef, where her student made the national final; and donating her time to the Springboard Charity.
Ruth has won a plethora of awards including:
